Established in 1977, and located 200 km to the west of Paris, Le Mans Université is a multi-disciplinary institution with 11,000 students divided between two campuses: Le Mans and Laval. With three faculties, two IUTs and one engineering school (ENSIM), it offers courses and carries out internationally-recognised expert research in science and technology, arts and languages, law, economics, management, and human and social sciences. Le Mans Université has 15 research laboratories including six linked to the CNRS.
